Laurie is a Gallup® Certified Strengths Coach and earned her Master’s degree in School Counseling from the University of Northern Iowa in 2004. She continued coursework through IUPUI specializing in the field of mental health and is licensed as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of Indiana. She has over 20 years of experience as a therapist, teacher, guidance counselor, and as director of counseling services and assistant dean at Upper Iowa University.
Laurie offers Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy and Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) in her work with clients. Laurie has 17 years of experience in providing therapeutic counseling for issues such as anxiety, depression, relationship, transition, trauma and adjustment issues. Laurie is especially passionate about and experienced with helping teens and young adults understand and develop their natural strengths and coping mechanisms so that they may achieve optimal performance in their personal and professional lives, and about working with women and men who are going through transitions in their lives. Laurie is also certified by the Professional Christian Coaching and Counseling Academy as a Grief and Joy Restoration Coach. Laurie serves as a volunteer for iCAN (Indiana Canine Assistance Network) and often has a service dog in training with her at work.
