Teen Art Therapy Group
Starting January 28th
Discover the transformative power of creativity with Kaylee Garber, Registered Art Therapist, in a 6-week art therapy group tailored specifically for teens (ages 15+) seeking connection, support, and tools to manage anxiety and stress. This empowering program invites participants to explore their emotions and inner world through engaging in creative activities that encourage self-expression, mindfulness, and emotional resilience while fostering a deeper mind/body connection.
What to Expect:
Over the course of six sessions, teens will have the opportunity to:
Explore Their Emotions: Use a variety of art mediums to express and process feelings related to anxiety, stress, and life's challenges in a safe and judgment-free space.
Cultivate Mind/Body Awareness: Participate in creative exercises that link artistic expression with physical sensations, helping to better understand and regulate emotions.
Build Meaningful Connections: Share experiences and form genuine bonds with peers who can relate to the pressures and complexities of teenage life.
Learn Effective Coping Skills: Discover stress-reduction techniques through a combination of art-making and mindfulness practices that can be applied in everyday life.
Enhance Self-Discovery: Reflect on personal strengths, develop a positive self-image, and embrace a deeper understanding of oneself through creative exploration.
Why Join?
No artistic experience is needed—just a willingness to explore and connect in new ways. All necessary materials will be provided, including a personal sketchbook for weekly creative prompts and self-reflection. The Power of Self -Control:
Enhancing Learning in Young Minds
Starting February 25th
Kristi Sloan, M.Ed, therapist with The Cabin, is offering a 4-week small group experience for students in 3rd, 4th & 5th grades to explore the power they have when they use self-control and the benefits of having self-control. The group will meet once per week on Tuesdays, beginning on February 25th from 4:30-5:30 at The Retreat (25 E. Pine St., Zionsville, IN 46077).
Why Join?
Self-control is a critical skill that significantly impacts how children learn and interact with their environment. It involves the ability to manage one's body, brain (thoughts), and emotions, allowing students to focus on tasks, follow instructions, and regulate their reactions to challenges. By developing self-control, children can improve their concentration and perseverance, leading to better academic performance and healthier social interactions. For instance, when students practice self-control during group activities, they learn to listen actively, share their thoughts respectfully, and collaborate effectively, which fosters a positive learning atmosphere. Furthermore, understanding the importance of self-regulation helps students recognize their emotional triggers and develop coping strategies, ultimately empowering them to take charge of their learning journey and achieve their goals.
Investment:
$150 for 4-week group
